I should have known it was only a game.

I should have known he was too good to be true.

He’s nothing but a player…

Player, an all-new sexy, standalone romantic comedy from Staci Hart, is available NOW!

He’s a player.

He plays the bass with expert fingers. He plays women with intoxicating charm. And he’ll play me with the ease of a virtuoso.

Who better to teach me to play than the master himself?

I’m his model student, front row, pencil sharp. Pick up lines? I’ve got them. Free drinks? By the dozen. Kissing? Let me grab my chapstick.

But the most valuable lesson I’ve learned is that there’s so much I don’t know. Like why his touch sets off a chain reaction straight to my nethers. Or how I’m certain each kiss is the best I’ll ever have, until the moment his lips take mine again.

There’s so much I don’t know.

Like the fact that I’m only a bet.

But we are what we are. He’s a player, through and through.

And I’m the fool who fell in love with him.

The night flew by, time speeding up and sliding past with nothing to mark the hours but his laughter and my smiles and our bodies bouncing around the parquet like we had nothing in the world to do but dance. I had no idea how late it was until “New York, New York” came on with the house lights.

Sam hooked me under his arm and guided me out into the chilly fall evening. Like an idiot, I’d come without a jacket, and I tried to play it off like I wasn’t cold. A shiver wracked down my spine, betraying me.

He shrugged off his leather jacket. “Here, wear this.”

“B-but then y-you’ll be cold,” I said, shifting away from him in an effort to stop him. “Look, it’s n-not even cold. It’s f-fake cold. It’s only what—like, sixty out? M-my body is j-just being drunk and d-dumb.”

“Val.” The word was a gentle warning. He held out his jacket like a matador. “Put it on.”

“N-no,” I said with a laugh.

He shook it once like he was taunting me. “Toro.”

I giggled, stumbling a little as I brought my hands to the top of my head, pointer fingers to the stars. “Olé!” I cheered as I charged. But instead of running through his jacket, I found myself in his arms.

I didn’t know how it happened. The jacket was there, and then it was gone. But instead of being laid out on the sidewalk like I should have been, Sam’s arms were hooked around my waist, our bodies winding together and twisting from the force of his catch. And then I looked up, and time stretched out in a long, still moment. His eyes on my mouth. Mine on his. His nose millimeters from mine and his mouth so close, if I turned my head just right, our lips would brush. The warmth of him was everywhere.

I wasn’t cold anymore. I was on fire.

So I said the first thing that entered my empty mind.

“Are you going to kiss me, or am I gonna have to lie to my diary?”

The moment broke with our laughter, filled the air around us, stopped my chugging heart. He pressed his lips to my forehead.

I sighed. “I guess that’ll do.”

He hooked his jacket over my shoulders, taking a moment to look over my face, watching his fingers as he tucked a loose curl behind my ear. “Come on. Let’s get you home. You did good tonight, Val.”

“Thanks to your expert advice.”

But he smiled. “Pretty soon, you’ll figure out you didn’t need me at all.”

And I smiled back and pretended like it was possible that statement held an iota of truth.

So, this is the first book of Staci’s that I’ve read, and it won’t be the last!! This book is SO fantastic, I immediately went back to Amazon and bought Piece of Work because it features a character from this story.

Val is a trumpet player in a Broadway orchestra. She’s madly in lust with the bass player Sam, but figures he’d never go for a girl like her. I mean, why would he? Beautiful? Check. Smart? Check. Curvy? Double check. Musically talented? Most definitely. Sam would be an idiot NOT to go for Val.

Sam is also an extremely talented musician, working in the same orchestra as Val. Only, where she is a bit shy and insecure, he’s confident and easygoing. He’s the type of guy that seems shallow on the surface, but dig just a bit deeper and you realize that Sam is a genuinely good guy. Not only is he talented, not only is he gorgeous, but he’s got a heart the size of his bass.

I LOVE these two characters. I LOVE the secondary characters. And I love music, so this book is the total package for me. It’s funny, sweet, swoon-worthy, and made me immediately want to take Swing dancing lessons. And not once did this book skip a beat. The words never faltered. They flowed just as smoothly as one of Miles Davis’ compositions.

I literally read this book in 1 day, because I wouldn’t put it down. It’s THAT good. This is a book that I would read multiple times, and it would still give me that giddy, happy feeling I got reading it the first time.

About the Author

Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life — a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can’t forget that. She’s also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She’s been a wife, though she’s certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She’s also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she’s been drinking whiskey.

From roots in Houston to a seven year stint in Southern California, Staci and her family ended up settling somewhere in between and equally north, in Denver. They are new enough that snow is still magical. When she’s not writing, she’s reading, sleeping, gaming, or designing graphics.

Cassie-Ann L Miller

Dirty, Little Proposition

He proposed!

Okay, that statement may be a bit misleading. My best friend’s handsome, charming brother didn’t really propose marriage to me. It was more of a proposition than a proposal, actually.

Y’see, Prescott needs to close a business deal for his law firm and to do that, he needs a fiancee. That’s how I got dragged into this mess.

I should just say ‘no’, but he isn’t the only one in need of a favor. He promises that he can help me land the internship I need to launch my career.

So, I made a deal with the tall, broad-shouldered devil in the custom-tailored suit, and now I’m wearing this enormous rock on my finger.

But, it’s strictly business…until he looks at me with those bedroom eyes and he flashes me that panty-melting smile.

What the hell have I gotten myself into?

Meet Cassie:

Cassie-Ann L. Miller writes steamy contemporary romance with a dash of angst and a sprinkle of humor. And if her toddler weren’t rebelling against his bedtime right this minute, she’d write her author bio, too.

Stacey Broadbent

Never Judge A Book

When I pictured my future, I never imagined I would be pregnant and on my own, but this is my reality.  I had my baby to think about, and being with a lying, cheating man-child suddenly didn’t hold as much appeal.

Turning back to the one thing that has always grounded me, I immersed myself in books; the local library, my playground.  That’s where I met him.

I’ve spent my life trying to be the perfect child and stay out of trouble.  People only see what they want to, though.  The Frost Brothers are no good.

I’ve done my time, and now I’m trying to get on with my life.  It wasn’t my intention to fall for someone, let alone a girl who clearly belonged to someone else.  She didn’t look at me like everyone else did.  But could she really fall for a guy like me?

Meet Stacey:

Stacey lives in Ashburton, New Zealand, with her husband and three beautiful children. She is a qualified proof-reader, self-published author, foodie and self-confessed book-a-holic! Stacey likes to mix things up a bit, writing in a variety of different genres. From comedic novellas to zombie thrillers, she has something for everyone to enjoy. When she isn’t busy writing, Stacey enjoys spending time with family and friends, and experimenting in the kitchen for her food blog: Calamity Jayne, my hit and miss journey as a foodie.

FINLEY banner

Title: Finley

Author: Ella Frank

Genre: M/M Contemporary Romance

Publication Date: March 22, 2016

It’s time to come home, Finn.

It’s been seven years since Daniel Finley left his hometown in Florida for the hustle and bustle of Chicago’s city life.

Since then, he’s worked hard for his position at the prestigious law firm Leighton & Associates, even when it’s caused distance and isolation from his family and friends. But that’s all about to change.

On his thirtieth birthday, he receives the one thing he never dared hope for. Something that was promised to him years earlier—a note. One simple sentence from the man he’s never been able to forget.

Six words will forever change the course of their lives.

Brantley Hayes has it all. Or so he thinks. When he first made the decision to take a job down in Florida, his family thought he was crazy. But, after years of living in the quiet beach town, he finally feels a sense of community. He’s surrounded himself with friends who are like family, has a job he loves, and owns a spectacular beachfront property that is his sanctuary.

Yet he still feels unfulfilled, as if a piece of the puzzle is missing, and he knows exactly which piece it is. On an impulse, he follows through with a promise he made years earlier. A promise to call home the one he sent away.

Nothing is as simple as it seems.

After years of separation, the former lovers are reunited, but Brantley wasn’t expecting to encounter the high walls now guarding Daniel’s heart.

Daniel may not be the same person he was when he left, but he knows that the first step to healing is the note in his hand.

Finley by Ella Frank

BRANTLEY KEPT A discreet eye on the final student to leave for the morning as Mr. Finley strode down the stairs to the front of the classroom. They were three weeks into the semester and he was ashamed to admit that, with every day that passed, his fascination with the young man grew.

At first, he’d tried to convince himself that it was purely academic. The kid was smart. He’d aced all the weekly quizzes, and Brantley was more than aware of the way he watched him lecture with keen, intelligent eyes that never strayed from him.

Oh, he was fascinated, all right, but he made sure to tell himself at the end of every class that it had nothing to do with the mischievous grin Daniel would flash at his friends or the easygoing laugh that would bubble up out of him at any given moment. But he knew he was lying. Daniel was quite possibly the happiest person he’d ever met, and his joy of life lit up the room and everyone in it. Including him.

When Daniel stopped in front of him and dropped his paper on the desk, Brantley acknowledged him with a glance before returning his gaze back to the notes he was going over.

“Any big plans this weekend, Professor?”

The question had been so unexpected that he didn’t think to catch himself before he replied, “Nothing too big. Just going out with some friends. You?”

Daniel smiled at him as he shoved his arms through the loops of his backpack, and Brantley couldn’t help but look at his shirt as it stretched across his broad chest.

“I’m going to hit the beach. Such great waves right now.”

“Ahh, you like to surf. That explains it.”

When the side of Daniel’s mouth crooked up, the effect was charming as hell. The kid was a knockout.

“Explains what?”

Annoyed that he’d made such a stupid slipup, he looked back at the papers in front of him, hoping Daniel would get the message and leave. No such luck.

“Explains what?” he asked again.

Brantley sighed and rested his arms on the desk as he studied Daniel’s inviting face. “It explains your hair.”

“My—oh,” he said, touching the ends of it. “Do you like it?”

Stunned by the direct question, he sat back in his chair and fought the smile tugging at the corners of his lips. “Do I like your hair?”

“Does it matter?” Jesus, fuck. Stop it. Stop flirting with him.

But it was too late. Daniel put his hands on the desk and leaned forward, Brantley toed the ground, shoving his chair back.

“It could…”

“No. No, it couldn’t,” he said as he got to his feet, shaking his head.

Daniel straightened and tucked his thumbs into the straps of his backpack, no doubt to taunt him. His eyes were too knowing for someone his age, and when they held his longer than was acceptable, Brantley’s heart skipped a couple of beats.

“Was there something else, Mr. Finley?”

“You said you were going out with friends this weekend…”

Shit, did I? “Yes, that’s right.”

As Daniel ran his thumb down the left strap of his bag, he admonished himself for noticing every little move he made. He needed to get a fucking hold of himself.
“Are any of them more than a friend?”

If he hadn’t been watching Daniel quite so closely, he wouldn’t have believed the words that had just come out of his mouth. But he had been. So he did.

“I don’t believe that’s any of your business. You better hurry or you’ll miss your next class.”

Satisfied that he’d firmly dismissed Daniel, he sat down and made a show of focusing on the books lining his desk and didn’t dare look and see if he had left this time or not. He wasn’t sure what he’d do if he was still standing there.

He reached up to adjust his tie, which suddenly felt a little too tight around his neck, and with each passing second that he was consciously not checking to see if he was alone, he swore that it was getting tighter.

“Professor Hayes?”

His head snapped up at his name, and when Daniel had his attention, he continued.

“Are you gay?”

Brantley’s eyes widened, and he wondered how his mouth hadn’t fallen open at the blunt question. Instead, he went with, “Excuse me?”

“I asked if you were—”

“I heard what you said. But I don’t see how that is any business of yours, either. You should think before you speak, Mr. Finley. I’m your teacher, and it’s time for you to leave. This conversation is over.” He flipped open one of the books on his desk and shook his head. He couldn’t believe the audacity of the kid—or the fact that he was so damn forthright. As he sat there, grinding his teeth in an effort not to look at his student—who was still standing in front of his desk—a bead of sweat ran down his collar and he cursed the fact that his nerves were getting the better of him.

“I only asked because, well, I am too. And I thought it would be nice to have someone to talk to.”

Well, hell. He couldn’t fault him for that. The only problem was…talking wasn’t what sprang to mind when he was around Daniel Finley.

He clasped his hands on the desk and stared into the anxious face peering down at him. Daniel was worrying his lower lip with his teeth, and he suddenly looked very much the young man he was.

“Are you?” he asked again, and there was no way he could deny that hesitant curiosity.

“Yes, Daniel. I am.”

As his words drifted between them, Daniel’s mouth slipped into a smile. “Oh.”

Brantley laughed at that. He wasn’t sure what Daniel was thinking right then. He’d thought for sure with the way he’d been looking at him earlier that, if he’d admitted this, he would be fending off—or at least putting up a good show of fending off—an unwanted pass. But, instead, Daniel appeared thoughtful.

“Does that bother you?”

Daniel adamantly shook his head. “No.”

“Are you sure?” he pressed, and the look that entered Daniel’s eyes then was so hot that he thought he may overheat.

“Yes. I’m very sure.”

Oh, fuck. Okay. Where the hell did the nervous guy disappear to? One minute, Daniel was endearingly awkward, and the next, he was looking at him like he wanted to strip him out of his clothes and—“Stop right there,” he said, and he wasn’t sure if he was telling himself that or the contradiction eyeing him with newfound knowledge. “Whatever you’re thinking, stop thinking it.”

Yep, he was fucked. That wasn’t a word he generally used, but in this case, he was well and truly fucked. He should’ve just stuck to the runalongnow speech.

“Because I’m your teacher.”

“This isn’t high school. I’m an adult.”

He sighed. “That may be true. But I’m your professor and this conversation is inappropriate.”

“How? I just asked if you were gay and you said yes. I don’t see what the problem is.”

When Daniel aimed a mischievous grin at him, Brantley knew he was very aware of what the problem was.

“Out,” he said, pointing to the door. “Time to leave, Mr. Finley.”

This time, he made sure to watch Daniel so he knew he was actually leaving. He walked to the door, but at the last minute, he turned around to look back at him. Not willing to back down and show weakness, Brantley kept his eyes on his student as Daniel ran his tongue along his lower lip.

“You should call me Finn. Everyone else does.”

Christ. The kid was going to drive him to an early grave, but damn if he didn’t laugh at his audacity.

“Out,” he said again, and this time Daniel pushed out the door and disappeared into the hall.

This book.

Here are some adjectives for you in regards to this story:

Smoldering. Emotional. Beautiful.

As usual, Ella does it again. How she writes these characters so well that you feel like you’re right there with them is beyond me. I hope she never stops.

It’s time to come home, Finn.

Those six words stop your heart when you read them and understand the effect they have on Daniel Finley. Seven long years, and he didn’t think they could, but those words send him running back to his hometown to face the love he left behind.

Finn’s not the same young guy. He’s successful and commanding. He’s a take charge, take no prisoners kind of guy, in the courtroom and out. Brantley Hayes doesn’t recognize the man he’s become, but he likes what he does see. Brantley’s determined to get to know that man Finn has become.

Ella has such a knack for writing beautiful love stories, and it honestly doesn’t matter the gender of the characters. Whether it’s M/F or M/M her stories flow. They take you through all sorts of emotions. Brantley and Finn are great guys. They are both strong but unsure, and the vulnerability that you see in them makes you fall in love with them. It’s so difficult for an author to aptly convey those traits in a character without them seeming  weak, but Ella does it perfectly.

I’ve  long been a fan of Ella’s and there’s not one book of hers that I don’t love. This is no exception. I also happen to be a big M/M fan, and Finely is now one of my favorites. There’s also a great little cameo appearance by two of my other favorite characters of hers.

I’m very excited to get the next book in this new Sunset Cove Series. I have no doubt that it will be every bit as wonderful as this one.

Great addition to the Rockstar Series!

Oh Sera and Cage! I have wondered about you two from the beginning. This is a beautiful story that is not only an emotional journey but an action packed one as well. There were so many twists and turns. I loved the Mafia aspect mixed with a little bit of darkness. Not only do we get we get Sera and Cage’s story but we get the see the whole gang again! Mafia, rockstars, action, love, steaminess…what more can you ask for??

First and foremost Anne is an avid reader of romance reads every single day. Without reading, she wouldn’t be inspired to write. The same can be said about music. She started reading with Nora Roberts and Sandra Brown’s LoveSwept titles forever ago and went from reading solely traditionally published to reading nearly all indie authors. She still reads La Nora and a few others. A must.

Anne hopes you enjoy reading my stories as much as she enjoys writing them.

Anne lives in Wisconsin, is a huge fan of music, chocolate, fruit, Fall, Matt Shadows, Avenged Sevenfold, and Milo Ventimiglia.

Intoxicate, Book # 4 in the Explosive Series

Can be read as a standalone

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Release Day: January 29, 2015

Marry me.

Two words Kalli Montgomery never expected to say out loud to Xavier Cruz, even though she’s been in love with the sexy, single father for as long as she can remember. Unfortunately, she hasn’t just been friend-zoned for the past ten years. No, even worse, he’s treated her like a little sister, no matter how hard she tried to prove she could be so much more. When she agrees to spend the summer as the caregiver for his daughter, Lily, she knows it’s her last chance to finally make him take notice.

As unexpected circumstances threaten to disrupt his home life, Xavier’s desperate to keep his family together. He’ll do whatever it takes, even if it means marrying a woman he doesn’t love. For Xavier and Lily, Kalli will do just about anything, even at the risk of getting her heart broken in the process.

Little does she know, sometimes love isn’t quite as unrequited as one may think. Xavier sees her-he always has. And the vow he made all those years ago never to go there with his best friend’s little sister is wavering, and it’s wavering fast. When they come up with a plan that leads to wedding bells, it’s a no brainer.

This marriage of convenience has one rule: absolutely no falling in love.

Easier said than done. Throw together a girl who believes rules are meant to be broken, and a man whose whole career revolves around following orders and you get a recipe for disaster. What could possibly go wrong?

4.5 Sweet Stars

It’s been awhile since I’ve read a straight up contemporary romance, and after reading this book, I don’t know why I went so long in between!

Xavier is a brooding, sexy single father. He dotes on his daughter and puts aside his own wants and needs to make sure she has a happy home. For ten long years, he’s tried to deny his attraction to Kalli. A woman who happens to be his best friends younger sister.

Kalli is strong, independent and has had a mad crush on Xavier for ten years. He’s always treated her like a little sister.  She’s determined to change that when she agrees to be his daughters nanny for the summer.

I absolutely adored this story. Xavier and Kalli are so obviously perfect for each other, but Xavier has been alone for so long, he has no idea what to do. Both characters are wonderfully written, and you really feel as though you know them. There is great chemistry between Kalli and Xavier, and they are so very sweet together.

The fact that I haven’t read any of the first 3 books in the series did not matter. I don’t feel like I missed anything. This was a great, easy read, full of very sweet moments and a wonderful HEA. If you are looking for a great romance, look no further.

Shooting a glare at him, I throw my hands up in exasperation. “Are you telling me that this whole anticipation thing is one-sided? Is it that easy for you to resist? I really need to step up my game.”

Xavier’s eyes fall to my lips for a quick moment before he looks back up at me. I see the desire in his expression, and without him even saying a word, I know he wants this, too. So why is he making me wait?

“You have no idea how much I want to kiss you right now. How many times I’ve thought of doing just that. Every time you were curled up against me on the couch, I wanted to kiss you. Every morning when you showed up, I wanted to kiss you. Every time you said goodnight to Lily and then slipped out my

door? I wanted to kiss you before you left. It’s not a new development. The first time I ever saw you, Kalli, I wanted to kiss you. And I’ve wanted to ever since.”

His admission floors me. He’s told me before that he “saw” me, but I had no clue it was from the very beginning. I’m not really sure how to process it. In fact, he beats me to the punch.

“So now you know. This will be just as hard for me, but it will be so damn worth it. Because when you’ve wanted something for as long as I’ve wanted you? It’ll be the best feeling in the world when I finally get it.”

“Our first kiss will be that epic?”

“A first kiss to rival them all,” he quips, grinning at me. He holds his arms out wide. “Now, we’ll start with a hug and work our way up.”

“I feel like I’m sixteen again,” I tell him as I wrap my arms around his waist.

His hands come down to my back and he gives me a big squeeze, my head pressing against his firm chest. I love this feeling of being in his arms, him holding me close. There’s nowhere on the planet I’d rather be than right here with him. As much as I want him, I know he’s right. I don’t care when it comes. Because when it does, our first kiss will be unforgettable.

His chest rumbles as he chuckles. He squeezes me tight one last time before letting me go. “And it’s only just the beginning,” he tells me. “Have a good night, crazy girl.”

REVIEW: Fate by Nikki Sex

Title: FATE

By: Nikki Sex

Release Date: February 23, 2014

Genre: Erotic Romance

How far would you go to get something you really want?

Emily Malone has had a lifelong crush on her brother’s best friend, Paul.

Unfortunately, he just sees her as his friend’s little sister.

Desperate and infatuated, Emily resorts to lies and deception.

She only needs one night with Paul, to finally get over this obsessive crush.

But Fate has other ideas, and whether or not Emily knows it, everything happens for a reason. . .

5 Steamy Stars

First, I’m going to say that I love Nikki Sex. She’s one of my favorite Erotic authors. I haven’t read a bad book by her yet.

Have you ever wanted someone you knew you could never have? Who hasn’t! But what if you could, for one night, get that person to give in, give you the most memorable night you could imagine?

This book is so much more than just sex. Nikki does a FABULOUS job of telling a story. She makes you feel what Emily feels; makes you want what Emily wants. You follow Emily along as she executes her long devised plan to spend one night with Paul, a guy she’s been in love with her whole life. What Emily quickly discovers is that one night won’t be enough. Not only for her, but for Paul. Although he thinks she’s someone else. Not his “little sister”.

As with most lies, they are bound to unravel at some point. And in this book, there’s no exception.

There is a great mix of sweet, romantic, scorching hot and BDSM. There are some character and place references from some of her previous books, which I LOVE!

This is a very good, easy read, as are all of her books. If you want hot, steamy sex scenes to go along with a great story, pick up FATE!
